At Quinta de Castelo Melhor, O.Leucura gains its name from the Oenanthe Leucura or Black Wheatear, a critically endangered bird. Its rarity is a treasure for any national or international bird watcher and therefore, it is protected by the sustainability and biodiversity policy of Duorum, a pioneer in Douro in joining the European Business & Biodiversity network.

The Black Wheatear found in Duorum estates one of its refuges in Portugal. And it was precisely in these estates that we found the best Duorum wine, honoring not only the diversity but also the biodiversity of this project.
